Great Crossfit and Movement Exercises You Can Do Right at Home

Finding time to get to the gym seems harder these days. Instead of letting yourself get out of shape, consider the idea of investing in fitness accessories via online shopping and set up a workout space at home. Here are some simple ones that you can start with at once.

The AMRAP Approach

One of the routines you can do at home is known as the AMRAP. Short for “as many reps as possible,” this includes three basic exercises that you perform a set amount of repetitions for in turn. Once you complete the third, you cycle back to the first exercise. This goes on for five to ten minutes. During that time, you see how may cycles you can complete.

Try something along the lines of ten sit-ups, ten push-ups, and ten straddle hops in a row. Once you complete the first set, do a second one. Repeat until you’ve used up all your time. Along with being a great cardiovascular workout, it’s a lot of fun to see how many rounds you can work into that five to ten minute time frame.

Making the Most of Your Treadmill

Treadmills offer the opportunity to walk or jog while you are watching television or listening to music. Increase the benefits by combining a brisk walk with using a couple of free weights. Arm curls are one possibility. You could also swing your arms back and forth while holding a weight in each hand. Start out with ten minutes on the treadmill and gradually work out way up to a half-hour.

Spending Time in the Pool

Combine swimming laps with some water aerobics. Use weights you can hold in your hands to add to the natural resistance that you encounter in the water. This twist on some of the routines you normally do in the gym will break up the monotony and help you tone your body faster.

Jumping Rope

While not any old jump rope will do, it’s not hard to find one that’s designed for serious workouts. Skipping rope is a great way to get rid of stress and works just about every muscle group in the body. Along with the right jump rope, remember to invest in CrossFit accessories like a headband to keep the sweat out of your eyes and an exercise pad that is non-skid.

Power Walking

Sometimes the treadmill is just too confining. Slip on a pair of walking shoes by Clarks that provide plenty of sole and arch support and go for a nice long power walk around the neighborhood. If you buy an activity tracker, it will be easier to keep up with how much distance you manage to cover in a half-hour. Try to increase that distance a little more each week and you’ll find that you feel as well as look better.
